Kane is looking forward to having Tuchel as England coach

Harry Kane admits he was "surprised" when Thomas Tuchel was appointed England manager, but says the German brings more "energy and passion" than his predecessor Gareth Southgate.

As a Bayern Munich striker, Kane only worked with Tuchel at the club level last summer. Unexpectedly, just a few months later, the famous German coach took over the England team, becoming the first foreign head coach to take charge of the England team in nearly a decade.

Kane admitted that he did not initially regard Tuchel as a national team coach, but after learning the news, he quickly became excited.

"If I have to be honest, I'm surprised! I didn't expect it!" Kane said in a press conference before Tuchel's first game in charge - against Albania.

"I didn't imagine him as a national team coach, but once the appointment was announced, I was very much looking forward to it. I worked with him last year and know what he can bring to this team."

"Even though we had only trained together for a few days, he did not disappoint me and brought everything I expected."

"With each training camp, he will get more and more comfortable, and we will get to know him better. The most important thing is that we are ready for next year."

Kane said that Tuchel and Southgate have two completely different styles. "They are coaches with completely different personalities, both on and off the court."

"Gareth and I have a very good relationship. We are similar in many ways. We are both calm and understand each other. We often discuss tactics and games."

"Thomas brings a lot more passion and energy, which has been evident in training and meetings. He speaks with passion and has a strong sense of commitment to the game."
