Everton announced on its official website on Thursday that the club's English manager Sean Dyche has been sacked.
According to Everton's official statement, with this personnel change, assistant coaching staff members Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer will also leave the club immediately.
Before the new manager is appointed, the club's legendary captain Seamus Coleman and the U18s team manager, the club's former legendary England international left-back Leighton Baines will temporarily take over the managerial position.
In fact, rumours speculating that Dyche may be sacked at any time has been circulating since the moment Roma president Dan Friedkin successfully acquired the club.
Many people have been speculating that after the club's largest shareholder changed hands, Friedkin will definitely dislike Dyche's tactical ideas for being too old-fashioned, and Everton's poor performance this season just gave Friedkin a better opportunity to sack Dyche.
After Dyche was sacked, it was rumored that Friedkin might consider appointing the club's former legendary Scottish manager David Moyes to return to the team as an interim manager until the end of this season.
It was also rumoured that Friedkin intended to appoint former AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca to replace Dyche, but both rumours have not been confirmed yet.
After 19 matches this season, Everton has achieved 3 wins, 8 draws and 8 losses, and is temporarily 16th on the table with 17 points, only 1 point more than Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town who are in the relegation zone.
About Sean Dyche
Dyche, 53, was born in Kettering, England on June 28, 1971. He is 1.83 meters tall. He played as a center back during his playing career where he is a Chesterfield legend and has also played for Nottingham Forest, Watford, Luton Town, Millwall as well as other clubs.
After retiring in the summer of 2007, Dyche returned to Watford as its U18s team coach and was promoted to Watford's first-team manager in 2011.
In September of the following year, Dyche was appointed as Burnley manager.
During his 10-year spell at Burnley, Dyche was known for his traditional and practical tactics. During this spell, he led the club to win the EFL Championship once and even qualified for the UEFA Europa League once.
However, as the Clarets was in a relegation battle crisis in April 2022, Dyche was suddenly sacked. At that time, many media, pundits and fans criticized Burnley's management for being too hasty.
In January 2023, Dyche was appointed as Everton manager.
During his two-year spell as the head coach of the Toffees, Dyche managed a total of the Premier League club's 84 games in all competitions, achieving 26 wins, 26 draws, and 32 losses, with a win percentage of 30.95%, during which he led the team to break the record of not beating their city rivals Liverpool since 2010.
