Chelsea are about to travel to Legia Warsaw for the UEFA League quarter-finals, and coach Enzo Maresca has revealed the latest injuries within the team.
In the pre-match press conference, Maresca spoke about the status of Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia. Fofana completed hamstring surgery last Saturday, while Lavia suffered a new injury in the game against Tottenham.
"We definitely support them because they are our players, they are young players, they are human beings, so we all need to support them when they have difficulties for various reasons," Maresca said.
"Unfortunately, Wes will be out for the entire season. Hopefully we'll have Lavia back soon. I don't know if he'll be able to play in the next game but he looks like he's recovered pretty well and should be back soon. We need to support them both and then see at the end of the season."
Although some players are absent due to injuries, some players are about to recover and return to the field. For example, Marc Giu has a relatively high chance of playing in the remaining games of this season. Maresca said: "We have good news about Marc. From today on, he looks much better and has recovered well. He should be able to return before the end of the season."
