The Korean Mint has confirmed the launch of Faker commemorative coins, which will be issued in limited quantities on May 7

The Korea Minting Corporation (KOMSCO) announced on Thursday that it will issue a limited number of commemorative coins for T1's legendary mid laner Faker (Lee Sang-hyuk) at 10 a.m. on May 7, which is also Faker's 29th birthday.

The 28-year-old Faker is a Korean professional League of Legends player who mainly plays the mid-lane position. He joined the T1 team as a youth trainee in February 2013 and made his LCK debut on April 6 of the same year.

So far, Faker has led the T1 team to win the League of Legends World Championship five times (2013, 2015, 2016, 2023, 2024), the LCK League Championship ten times, and the MSI Mid-Season Invitational Championship twice. He also represented South Korea in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou in September 2023, and finally led the team to win the gold medal in the League of Legends event.

As the world's only five-time champion and FMVP, Faker is widely regarded as one of the greatest League of Legends players of all time. To commemorate his extraordinary achievements, the Korea Mint has launched two limited edition commemorative coins, gold (507 pieces) and silver (2,000 pieces). The front of the commemorative coin depicts Faker sitting on a throne, symbolizing his status as the "king of e-sports"; the back has the words "GOAT" written by him and a crown, implying victory in international competitions.
