Southeast Asian e-sports legend Mushi was interviewed and talked about the current state of the professional Dota 2 scene in the region. Mushi admitted that the competitiveness here is insufficient.
Mushi was interviewed during the Acer Asia Pacific Predators League 2025 event held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
When asked about the current state of Dota 2 in Southeast Asia, Mushi said: "Compared to those Western countries, right? I think Southeast Asian players are a little more relaxed, and they are easily satisfied."
"But in Western countries, they are very competitive. I think it's the culture in Southeast Asia. I think this culture allows us to win some games, but it's hard to be consistent."
Mushi is currently the coach of Boom Esports, a team with players from different countries. Mushi believes that although Southeast Asian players are easily satisfied, they are all talented.
"Of course, Southeast Asian players have always been very talented," Mushi said. "We have great players from all over the world, including China, Europe, etc. But we just lack five players who can fully cooperate. You know, this is a team game."
Teams from Western and Middle Eastern countries dominate Dota 2, such as Team Falcons, Team Liquid, etc. A team from the Southeast Asian region has never lifted the championship shield at the Dota 2 World Championship TI.
