Sky Sports' resident renowned German transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, reported on Tuesday that AC Milan's Switzerland international forward Noah Okafor's transfer to RB Leipzig has been cancelled after he had failed his medical tests.
According to Plettenberg, Okafor flew to Germany to prepare for his medical tests after reaching an agreement with RB Leipzig on Monday. Unexpectedly, when he arrived in Leipzig, the team doctor found in his test results that Okafor's gastrocnemius was torn and the injury was quite serious, thus they were forced to cancel the transfer reluctantly.
It is reported that AC Milan's team doctor has informed RB Leipzig of the severity of Okafor's injury. The team doctor said that Okafor is expected to be ruled out at least until mid-March due to the injury.
Currently, Leipzig iss ready to arrange for Okafor to fly back to Germany as soon as possible to get further treatment for his injury.
Okafor was temporarily absent from matches after he began to complain about leg discomfort in mid-December 2024. He also missed the Supercoppa Italiana final and missed the chance when the club defeated its fierce city rivals, Inter Milan to win the title.
With the release of the bad news of Okafor's injury, it is still unknown whether AC Milan's original plan to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United to replace Okafor will change.
At the same time, it is not yet known whether the Bundesliga giants will consider signing Rashford as a replacement after failing to sign Okafor.
