Aston Villa officially announce the signing of Netherlands international forward Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund..


Aston Villa announced on its official website on Tuesday that the club has signed Netherlands international forward Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund.


According to Aston Villa's official statement, Malen has signed on a long-term four-and-half-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029. At the same time, he will also wear the No. 17 jersey which was vacated after France international defender Clement Lenglet had left the club.


After completing his joining procedures, Malen, who was interviewed by the Aston Villa official website for the first time, said: "I am very happy and very proud. It is amazing to sign with this club."


"It is great to be here. I used to play in the Arsenal youth academy. It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League one day. Now I can finally realize this dream, so I am very happy about it."


"We have a lot of games to play next, and they are all very important games, so I can't wait to start working."


"I will help the team as much as possible and give back to the club, and then continue to spur myself and keep learning to make progress. These are one of my qualities."


About Donyell Malen


Malen, 25, was born in Wieringen, the Netherlands on January 19, 1999. He is 1.76 meters tall and primarily plays as a right winger. He can also play as a left winger or center forward. He has dual nationalities of the Netherlands and Suriname.


Malen played in the Ajax youth academy when he was a child and moved to the Arsenal youth academy in 2015.


During his time with the Gunners' youth team, Malen has always been one of the club's most promising wonderkids.


On the 2017 summer transfer window deadline day, Malen joined PSV Eindhoven for £50,000  and completed his PSV Eindhoven first-team debut in February of the following year.


During his three-year spell with the Lampen, Malen won the Eredivisie once with the club.


In July 2021, Malen joined Borussia Dortmund for €30 million.


During his three-and-a-half-year spell at BVB, Malen played 132 times for the Bundesliga giants in all competitions, scored 39 goals, assisted 20 times, and reached the UEFA Champions League final once with the club.
