Xi'an WE King of Glory Division issued an announcement on Thursday, announcing that side lane player Sun Qiang (ID: Zidu) will officially retire from the game starting today. The details of the announcement are as follows:
"Xi'an WE. Zidu (Sun Qiang), the former side lane player of Xi'an Qujiang WE King of Glory team, has officially retired from the team from today.
Whether it was the tenacious defense in the face of adversity or the decisive teamfighting at the decisive moment, the days and nights of hard work, the moments of laughter and tears, will become precious chapters left in Xi'an WE. Thank you for your all-out and sincere dedication during your time in Xi'an WE. We will always remember this time of fighting side by side.
The fire in my heart never extinguishes, and my steps never stop. The story of self-salvation is coming to an end, but for Sun Qiang, everything is a new beginning. I wish Brother Qiang a smooth journey in the future. "
Zidu started his professional career in 2020 and played for Hefei Quxiang QX, Huizhou MGL and Jinan RW侠. He joined Xi'an WE in July 2023 and has represented the team in two KPL Spring Seasons, one KPL Summer Season and one King of Glory Challenger Cup, and won the 2024 Shanghai E-sports Masters Championship with the team.
Following the announcement by Xi'an WE, Zidu also confirmed his retirement on social media. He wrote: "Hello everyone, I am Zidu, an ordinary professional player.
I have been on the road of professional e-sports for four or five years. From the national competition in 2020, to the K League in 2022, to entering the KPL in 2023, and finally now it is finally coming to an end.
Looking back, I was lucky. In this place where so many talented people come from, it is not easy to persist for four or five years; but it is also a pity that because of the ups and downs in my form, I could only watch from the bench most of the time. Whenever I was confident and ready to make a move, my form always receded like the tide. I couldn't bear to drag down my teammates, so quitting on my own initiative might be the best choice.
The biggest gain from this journey is the teammates I met along the way. I am afraid that we can't talk about the time we worked together, the stories on and off the court, or all aspects of life even if we talk for a few days. I just hope that the brothers who are still persisting can get the results they want. Or like my friends who have returned to life, I hope you can live happily every day.
Why did I choose this path in the first place? Perhaps it was because I accidentally opened KPL when I was young, and saw the players on the KPL stage for the first time. At that time, I simply thought: "I also want to be as dazzling as them." But when I really stood on that stage, I realized: I can't become what I imagined them to be. After all, self-salvation is self-salvation. "
