Ruben Amorim says Alejandro Ganacho is still learning to play in different positions

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says Alejandro Ganacho is making continuous progress as he learns how to play in the Reds boss’s new system.  

Alejandro Ganacho entered the first team under the guidance of Erik ten Hag in 2022 and became famous as a winger. In Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 formation, the responsibility of expanding the range of play and providing width falls on the full-backs, and Alejandro Ganacho is often deployed as an inside forward, a position he is not familiar with, so Ruben Amorim said he needs to learn.  

It is reported that Alejandro Ganacho has not started a league game for Manchester United since the match against Nottingham Forest on December 7, but his performance in recent weeks has still been outstanding, providing two assists for the team in the games against Liverpool and Arsenal in early 2025.  

In a press conference, Ruben Amorim was asked if he thought Alejandro Ganachon had a good future at the club and he said: "It is clear that Alejandro Ganachon has great talent. He needs to learn to play in different positions, he needs to play better inside."  

"He has improved a lot in recovering his position when he doesn't have the ball. However, when doing this, sometimes he is not in the right position to make the transition, as he used to do in the past. Because I prefer to defend and then develop the attack with the whole team."
