Riot Games, the company behind League of Legends, has announced that it will launch a Twitch subscription service on multiple channels that broadcast League of Legends esports events.
Subscribers will receive a variety of benefits, including no ads and a subscriber-only chat room where fans can participate in exclusive discussions while watching live broadcasts. In addition, users who subscribe to the Tier 1 Subscription will also enjoy additional exclusive benefits, allowing them to unlock unique in-game rewards.
For example, during the first season in 2025, subscribers will receive a limited emoticon called "Why Though?" as a special gift. This reward not only increases the attractiveness of subscriptions, but also increases the fun of players' in-game interactions.
Riot Games initially chose to pilot the subscription plan on the official Twitch channel of the Japanese LCP. As the plan progressed smoothly, Riot Games decided to further expand the service scope and plan to promote the subscription function to other LCP channels and official channels of League of Legends e-sports leagues such as LEC, LTA and LCK from January 15 to January 18.
This marks the official entry of this program into the international arena, providing more opportunities for League of Legends fans around the world to support e-sports events. It is worth noting that these exclusive rewards are only available to paid subscriptions and gifted subscribers. This means that users who subscribe through Twitch Prime cannot claim these rewards.
In addition, the exclusive emoticons unlocked by subscribers are not limited to the esports league channel, but can also be used in other Twitch channels. This flexibility allows subscribers to show their support and esports spirit more vividly.
In the announcement, the League of Legends development team said that this plan is to provide fans with a meaningful way to directly support their favorite league. Part of the revenue generated through Twitch subscriptions will enter the global revenue pool to support Riot Games' major leagues and participating teams.
