Riot Games to launch in-game fundraisers for League of Legends and Valorant

Riot Games has announced that it will be launching in-game fundraisers in League of Legends and Valorant to support those affected by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.

The initiative will begin on January 22 and will be rolled out simultaneously across Riot Games’ multiple regions, with all proceeds going to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund, which will support natural disaster relief organizations in Southern California and around the world.

From January 22 to January 30, Valorant will turn its newly released EX.O series skins into "Giveback Packs" to raise funds for charity through the sale of weapon skins and accessories.

League of Legends will bring back the limited-edition Firefighter Tristana skin from 2010 for a limited time. The skin will be unlocked on January 23 at 12:00 pm (PT, 8:00 pm GMT) and will last until February 5 at 11:59 am (PT, 8:00 pm GMT).

According to Riot Games’ official blog, the campaign also includes a “double the donation” program for employees, where the company will triple employee charitable donations to support organizations including the California Fire Fund, the Los Angeles Fire Department Fund, International Medical Corps, the American Red Cross, and World Central Kitchen, in addition to direct company donations.

Riot Games, which is based in Los Angeles, closed its offices last week except for "critical functions" due to wildfires. Several employees lost their homes to the wildfires, and many others were forced to evacuate.

“This crisis has had a profound impact on our team, with some employees losing their homes and many others remaining in evacuation situations,” the company said in a statement.

"At times like this, our top priority is the health and safety of our employees. We have taken steps to support our employees through this difficult time, including temporary accommodation, emergency grants and counselling services. We are committed to continually evolving our support measures based on their needs."

This fundraising event reflects Riot Games' commitment to social responsibility and provides players with an opportunity to help their communities through gaming.
