Arne Sloter says Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez will be out for several weeks

Liverpool manager Arne Sloter has revealed that the team will be without Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez for several weeks as both are temporarily unable to play due to injuries.

Jota missed the game against Brentford due to injury, having been injured in the draw with Nottingham Forest a few days earlier, while Gomez has not played for the team since the end of 2024 due to a hamstring injury.

Slote said Jota "overused a muscle" when he came off the bench last week, but he expects the Portuguese forward to return sooner than centre-back Gomes, but he also made it clear that neither will be out for long.

At the press conference, Slote said: "Maybe Jota will return earlier than Joe. Both are expected to return to the team in a few weeks, not a few months. But I have emphasized many times that the final stage of recovery is the most difficult. This stage may sometimes be extended for a few days or not. We expect them to return to the team in the next few weeks. The specific time is difficult to determine. But as long as the rehabilitation goes according to plan, they will definitely not be absent for months."

In the next games, Sloterdijk will need to adjust the lineup without two important players. They will first face Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday, and then face Ipswich in the Premier League.
