Fragadelphia x The Block 2 Expands to 48 Teams, Philadelphia's CS2 Event Kicks Off Early
2025-08-15 08:48
After tickets sold out in a record three minutes, Fragadelphia, a well-known North American "CS2" event, announced that it would expand the number of participating teams in the upcoming Fragadelphia x The Block 2 offline tournament from 32 to 48.
This decision not only responds to outside concerns about insufficient opportunities for North American teams to participate, but also provides more teams with the opportunity to appear on the last offline stage before the StarLadder Budapest Major invitations are issued.
To accommodate the increase in teams, the start time of the event was moved forward by one day, from the original October 3 to October 2, and ended on October 5, which happened to be the day before the Major invitation deadline.
Tickets for Fragadelphia x The Block 2 will go on sale at 6:00 PM ET on August 14th. Organizers have chosen this time to ensure North American teams have the best chance of securing tickets to participate.
Thanks to its pivotal position in the annual CS2 tournament schedule, this year's event attracted several strong European teams, including Fnatic and Ninjas in Pyjamas. These teams hoped to leverage the higher points weighting of offline tournaments over online tournaments to reach the top 32 in the Valve Standings (VRS) and secure a spot in the second Major in 2025.
For North American teams, this means not only that they can compete for valuable tournament spots, but also that they have the opportunity to compete head-on with the world's top teams. This high-level cross-continental competition not only enhances the viewing experience of the event, but also provides local players with a rare opportunity to hone their skills in actual combat.
