Venice loaned Metz defender Farley Kander for half a season with option to buy

Venice officially announced that the 26-year-old Guinea-Bissau defender Farley Kandé has joined the club on loan from Metz. His loan period at Venice lasts until the end of this season, and the contract comes with a buyout clause.

Farley Kander mainly plays as a central defender, but can also play as a left back when necessary. In his youth, he studied in the youth training of many teams including Amadora, Sporting CP, Casa Pia, Niendorf, Porto, Benfica, etc. On June 10, 2020, he made his first-team debut for Portimonense in the Portuguese Super League.

In January 2022, Kander joined Metz from Portimonense for 2.5 million euros. So far, he has made 85 appearances for Metz, scoring 1 goal and providing 5 assists.

In terms of the national team, Kander has been playing for Guinea-Bissau since 2021, contributing 1 assist in 26 games in all competitions.

Venice has not performed well this season, ranking 19th in Serie A with 3 wins, 6 draws and 12 losses after 21 rounds. However, after completing the transfer, Kander expressed his determination to achieve the goal of relegation: "I am very happy to come to Venice and start a new adventure with such an important club. I am determined to go all out and work with my teammates to achieve our goal - to ensure that Venice can still stay in Serie A next season."

“I had the opportunity to take a quick tour of the city and Penzo Stadium – both of them took my breath away. They are so beautiful and unique.

"A warm greeting to all Venice fans: keep believing in us and we will do everything to achieve our goals."
