Complexity has been a fixture in the Counter-Strike world for years, and through tireless effort, they've finally established a stronghold. They're a legendary organization in North America, with many of today's top players having played for them. The organization's size is immense, and its roster isn't necessarily focused on a single esports title; it must develop diverse capabilities, encompassing DOTA 2, Counter-Strike II, PUBG, and more. With limited resources, they must manage them wisely.
The good times didn't last long. Complexity would face the prospect of being without a CS team for the first time since 2014. After 11 years of dominance, the team announced its disbanding due to financial difficulties. Jason Lake, CEO of the esports club, personally recorded a video and posted it on social media to tell fans the bad news, stating that he would be temporarily leaving the CS project. All members left the team, four of whom have joined Passion UA, finally finding a good home.
They are calm, courageous, and passionate about Counter-Strike. They spoke of the countless honors and trophies they have won since acquiring the CS roster in 2004. Until 2021, the club was acquired by GameSquare. In 2024, Jason Lake led his team to invest $10.36 million to repurchase the club, leaving them short of funds and forcing them to abandon their CS roster.
Knowing that fans would have many questions, he gave a very direct answer. The e-sports economic situation in 2025 was severe, and Complexity was temporarily unable to generate enough revenue to continue operating a first-line team. Forcing it would be fruitless, so the only option was to let everyone go free.
