Rebels officially announced the formation of a new CS2 team consisting of 5 Portuguese players

Spanish esports club Rebels officially announced on Thursday the formation of an all-Portuguese Counter-Strike II team. This move demonstrates Rebels' continued focus on Counter-Strike II and reflects their strategy of returning to and deepening their presence in the Iberian Peninsula's esports ecosystem.

Rebel was founded by former Spain international David de Gea during his time at Manchester United, and its co-owners include Bruno Fernandez and Juan Mata. The club entered the Counter-Strike scene in December 2023 by signing Polish team PALOMA, a partnership that ended in July of this year.

According to the official announcement, the new roster consists of young players Diogo Cruz (ID: Icarus), Felipe Dias (ID: NOPEEj), Diogo Rodriguez (ID: snapy), and Tiago Martins (ID: TMKj), along with seasoned veteran Renato Gonçalves (ID: stadodo). Among the five players, stadodo previously played for several Counter-Strike teams, including HEXAGONE, OFFSET, FTW, SAW, KOI, and Iberian Soul, and also played alongside players like NOPEEj and snapy.

Regarding the coaching staff, the Rebels have appointed former SAW and FTW head coach Rui Suárez (ID: vts) to oversee the CS2 project. vts previously led players like NOPEEj and stadodo to the 2024 PGL Copenhagen Major, and the Rebels hope he can continue his successful career.

Officials also confirmed that the Rebels new lineup will debut at the OMEN Roman Empire Cup 2 in Porto, Portugal from September 12th to 14th. The following is the full roster:

Commander/Sniper: Renato Gonçalves (ID: stadodo)

Rifleman: Diogo Cruz (ID: Icarus)
