Premier League - Gakpo scores twice as Liverpool beat Ipswich 4-1

The 2024/25 Premier League ushered in the 23rd round of the competition. Liverpool, sitting at Anfield, defeated the newly promoted Ipswich 4-1 with goals from Soboslai, Salah and Gakpo.

At the beginning of the game, Liverpool took the initiative to create opportunities. Gakpo got the ball and shot from outside the penalty area, but the ball went over the goal post. In the 8th minute, Liverpool striker Salah received the pass and shot but was blocked by the opponent.

In the 11th minute, Konate dribbled the ball and sent a straight pass. Soboslai received the ball and broke through the defense and shot from the top of the penalty area, helping Liverpool take the lead 1-0. In the 21st minute, Soboslai stole the ball and created an attacking opportunity. McAllister followed up and shot low but missed.

In the 29th minute, Ipswich midfielder Wes Burns fell to the ground and was injured while fighting for the ball. He was replaced by Ben Johnson after he could not hold on. In the 35th minute, Gakpo broke through the defense and passed the ball from the left to the penalty area. Salah received the ball and shot into the goal, helping Liverpool continue to lead Ipswich 2-0.

In the 40th minute, Ipswich tried to counterattack. Liam Delap received a cross pass from his teammate and was about to attack from the penalty area, but his shooting opportunity was resolved by a Liverpool player. In the 44th minute, Gravenberch passed the ball diagonally to the penalty area. Soboslai shot but was blocked by the Ipswich goalkeeper. Then Gakpo volleyed and scored, helping Liverpool expand their lead to 3-0.

In the first half stoppage time, Salah passed the ball back from the penalty area, McAllister was unable to create a shooting opportunity when he stopped the ball, and Soboslai followed up and shot, but the ball went wide of the goal.

In the 47th minute of the second half, Soboslai received a diagonal pass from Salah and shot wide. In the 60th minute, Ipswich's corner kick was cleared. Omari Hutchinson stopped the ball outside the penalty area and shook off the defense for a long shot. Liverpool goalkeeper Allison immediately fell to the ground to intercept the ball.

In the 65th minute, Arnold made a diagonal pass from the right to the penalty area, and Gakpo immediately stepped forward and headed the ball into the goal, helping Liverpool to lead Ipswich 4 to 0. In the 73rd minute, Liverpool's cross was blocked, and Arnold, who was outside the penalty area, took a few steps to meet the ball and then took a long shot, but the ball went wide.
