G2 Esports is considering establishing a new Academy team to participate in the League of Legends ERL tournament..

Foreign media outlet Sheep Esports exclusively reported on Wednesday that German e-sports powerhouse G2 Esports is considering establishing a new Academy team to participate in the League of Legends ERL tournament.

According to the report, G2 management believes this move is essential, recognizing the need for the club to establish as many Academy teams as possible to participate in regional tournaments and to provide young players with more opportunities to prove themselves before they become successful professional players.

It is understood that G2 has already begun preparations for this plan to return to Tier 2 tournaments and is expected to collaborate with the German-based Nordic e-sports club NORD Esports.

NORD attracted significant attention from fans in the Nordic region earlier this year by announcing the addition of Polish jungler Jankos to their roster.

Furthermore, they regularly invite several LEC teams, including SK and Vitality, to participate in the NNO Cup before the start of the Summer Split, further generating buzz.

If this collaboration goes through, G2 and NORD are expected to establish a joint Academy team which cater to the German market and participate in the Prime League.

If this plan fails, G2's new academy team will focus entirely on participating in the ERL tournaments.

It's worth noting that this isn't G2's first Academy team. Back in 2019, the club had already established a team in partnership with Team Heretics, called G2 Heretics.

After their contract expired the following year, G2 partnered with Arctic Gaming to form the G2 Arctic academy team.

Oscarinin, Supa, and Alvaro, who have qualified for the World Championship with their main team's current roster, all came from this G2 Arctic team. Unfortunately, this academy team failed to achieve promotion and disbanded.

In 2022, G2 planned to establish an academy team featuring Caedrel and Baus to participate in the NLC tournament, but this was rejected by both parties.

Later, they even formed a completely new team, Los Ratones.

Nevertheless, G2's dream of establishing another League of Legends Academy team has never been shattered, and they have been looking for a suitable opportunity to put this plan into action.
