Amorim says Rashford must change

Manchester United striker Rashford was excluded from the Europa League squad, and Amorim bluntly stated that "he must change."

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim insists he has "nothing personal" against snubbed Marcus Rashford but changes must be made if the striker is to break into the team's plans.

It has been seven weeks since the 27-year-old made his debut against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League and speculation surrounding his future continues.

This Thursday, Manchester United will challenge FCSB away in the Europa League, but Rashford is still not on the squad, although he still trained with the team the day before the game.

After United's 1-0 win over Fulham last Sunday, Amorim said he would rather include the team's 63-year-old goalkeeping coach in the squad than call up Rashford.

Meanwhile, there have been recent reports that Amorim and Rashford have stopped communicating.

In the pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Amorim made it clear: "Our team should be stronger with Rashford. But he must change. If he changes, we are certainly willing to accept a talented player like him, and we do need him."

“But now, it’s clear we have to set some standards.”

"We are waiting for Marcus, as long as he is really eager to return."

"You are trying to make this a personal conflict, but it is not. I have nothing against Marcus. I have to apply the same rules to everyone, and for me it is simple and the principles remain the same."
