Former Astralis captain gla1ve has announced his retirement and will transition into coaching.

Lucas Rosander (ID: gla1ve), a renowned Danish Counter-Strike player and former Astralis in-game leader, officially announced his retirement on Monday, ending his 13-year professional career. He also stated that he will pursue a career as a coach.

Since being relegated to the bench by ENCE in July 2025, gla1ve has not been able to get a chance to play. His most notable achievement at ENCE was leading the team to victory at the 2024 Elisa Masters, which will also be the last live title of his career.

Besides ENCE, gla1ve, 30, has also played for several other CS teams, including CPH Wolves, Anexis, Western Wolves, 3DMAX, CPLAY, X, Heroic, Astralis, and ENCE. He spent the peak of his career at Astralis, playing a total of 1258 maps and participating in 33337 rounds, achieving an average rating of 1.02. He led his team to numerous major championships, including the ECS Season 2 Finals, the 2017 ELEAGUE Atlanta Major, the IEM Season 11 Global Challenge, the 2018 DreamHack Masters Marseille, the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals, the ECS Season 5 Finals, the 2018 ELEAGUE Boston Major, the 2018 FACEIT London Major, the 2018 IEM Chicago, the ECS Season 6 Finals, the ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals, the 2019 IEM Katowice, the 2019 STARLADDER Berlin Major, the 2019 IEM Beijing Haidian, the ECS Season 8 Finals, the 2019 BLAST Pro Global Finals, and the IEM Season 15 Global Challenge.

In his retirement statement, gla1ve wrote: "A new journey is about to begin! After a period away from the field and re-examining the future, I feel there is no better choice than turning the page and becoming a head coach."

"I firmly believe that I can bring extraordinary value to the coaching position. My deep understanding of the game, my recent experience as a commander in CS2, and my comprehensive grasp of current mainstream tactics together constitute my unique advantages in coaching."

“I am well-versed in how to handle pressure in major competitions, and my consistent holistic management approach—treating each player as an independent individual rather than forcibly fitting them into the same framework—makes me believe that I can help many talented players reach higher levels.”

"What an incredible journey! I've gained countless memories and victories, as well as lessons that will never fade. I still get incredibly excited whenever I think back to those Majors, the Intel Grand Slams, and everything we accomplished during our golden era at Astralis. Being a part of creating such extraordinary achievements is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. My heartfelt thanks to my teammates and coaches from back then—you made this the best time of my life."

"To all the fans who cheered me on at the venue and supported me from home: You are the source of energy behind all my achievements. Thank you for your trust day after day."

"I sincerely thank Astralis, ENCE, and all the teams and partners I have crossed paths with—you have shaped who I am today."

"Last but equally important, thank you to my amazing family and my dear wife. Your support is my greatest strength, and I can't wait to face the challenges ahead with you."

"See you on the field again. But this time, I'll be sitting on the coach's bench."
