Swedish CS legend and former NIP leader Adam Friberg (ID: friberg) announced on Monday via the X platform that he will officially transition into coaching in 2026.
The 34-year-old friberg played for several CS teams, including NIP, OpTic, and Heroic, before retiring from professional play with Dignitas in 2022. As one of the most representative players in the early days of CS, he won numerous championships with his teams, including ESWC 2012, Dreamhack Winter 2012, EMS One Spring 2013, ESEA Season 13 Global Finals, EMS One Summer 2013, Dreamhack Summer 2013, ESEA Season 14 Global Finals, DreamHack Bucharest 2013, Fragbite Masters Season 1, Dreamhack Summer 2014, ESL One Cologne 2014, DreamHack Malmö Masters 2016, StarSeries SL i Season 2, and IEM Season 11 Oakland.
Now, friberg is looking forward to embarking on a new adventure in 2026. In his statement, he explained his reasons for the transition and his personal strengths: "As we move into 2026, I am looking for a coaching opportunity. I have accumulated extensive practical experience in different versions of CS and have served as a communicator and leader for many of the teams I have previously played for. Therefore, becoming a coach is a natural next step for me."
"My 20 years of experience in the CS field have given me a very solid foundation; and my early experience in team sports has also made me well-versed in the art of collaboration and able to anticipate and solve various problems."
"As a player, I always put the team first and make sure that the only thing that matters is winning, not shining individual stats in the face of defeat. I'm good at bringing the team together and working towards a common goal. I've won almost everything in CS, so I also have the winning mentality that a team needs."
"If you are looking for a new coach, my private messages are always open—I'd love to connect with you!"
