Season 42 Preview: Matchmaking Transparency, 10 Bans May Be Expanded to Diamond Rank. (Part Two)

The changes to the rank inheritance rules have a significant impact. Unless you're extremely afraid of getting stuck in Eternal Diamond, especially at the beginning of the season, you must work extra hard before the update to try and reach Glory King or higher. If you don't have the time to grind, just relax and play it safe. If you're lucky enough to get a gold medal, you can gradually climb to the highest rank. This kind of competitive mindset is healthier. After all, the purpose of playing games is to relax. Taking it too seriously and losing a few games in a row will only make you more angry.

Rank marker update

Furthermore, ranked matches will feature a new rank match indicator, which will be displayed at the top of the match history panel. This will be similar to the rules of the peak match, using icons instead of average scores. When matching, everyone will know the strength of their opponents, and the data will be transparent. In addition to pre-selecting lanes to ensure a good gaming experience, gold medals will encourage positive performance. The matchmaking mechanism in Season 42 will try to attract teammates of similar skill levels.

A rank is divided into several tiers. According to the current pattern, we don't really know the tiers of our teammates and opponents. Just take the Diamond rank, which is divided into tiers 1 to 5. How can we be sure that our teammates are Diamond 5 who just came up from Diamond, or Diamond 1 who is about to reach the highest rank? The skill gap between them is too big. If they lose the promotion match at the last minute, a losing streak will begin. Nobody wants to repeat the same mistake.

10 bans fully implemented

With each version update, the number of heroes in the game exceeds one hundred, leading to an overabundance of junglers and numerous problems for supports. Currently, supports are frequently targeted, resulting in powerful heroes being left unchecked and difficult to counter. Increasing the number of bans is a reasonable solution. However, considering player skill levels, this rule only applies to the Peak Match and King rank and above. Below King rank, a 6-ban system is used. In the new season, the rules will be unified, with a full 10-ban system supported. Furthermore, the ban option will not be visible, and both sides will repeatedly ban heroes. This will pose a problem for players with narrow hero pools, especially for the support role. Heroes like Dunshan, Shaolin, Zhang Liang, Donghuang Taiyi, Sun Bin, Yao, and Zhuang Zhou are often disliked and banned, forcing players to learn tanky supports.
