Viktor Lindelof: This will be a very challenging match, and we must be fully prepared and play our best.

Victor Lindelof says he and his Aston Villa teammates are fully prepared for their upcoming away game against Chelsea. This weekend, Unai Emery's Aston Villa will travel to Stamford Bridge to extend their ten-game winning streak across all competitions and secure their eleventh victory.  

The Swedish defender acknowledged that all footballers crave such a challenge and anticipated a tough match against Enzo Maresca's team in the capital. Viktor Lindelöf stated, "They are undoubtedly a strong team with many excellent players, and I thought their performance was very impressive."  

"Therefore, this will be a tough match, and we must be fully prepared and play our best. Otherwise, our opponents will cause us a lot of trouble. However, matches against Chelsea are always challenging and very interesting. This is an important match against a strong team, and the players always want to perform well in such crucial games."  

“I’ve been playing football since I was a child, and I’ve always wanted to play against the best teams and players. Now that we have the opportunity to face such opponents every week, we must enjoy the game, seize the opportunity, and show ourselves in the best way. Victor Lindelof, who has made his last two Premier League appearances for Aston Villa, reflected on his start to the club and admitted that he has thoroughly enjoyed his time as a Villa player so far. The 31-year-old defender also praised the team's resilience in winning even when in poor form and expressed his belief that Aston Villa under Unai Emery have even greater potential for growth in 2026.  

He said: "I am very happy to be here and delighted to join this team. Obviously, I have been playing a lot of games recently, which is always a good thing, giving me the opportunity to contribute to the team on the field. We have performed well and won many games, which is of great significance to the team."  

“During this period, we performed exceptionally well, and clearly, even when we weren’t at our best, we still found ways to win games. We were still able to score and take three points, which demonstrates our ability. Looking at our current players and the level of football we play, we have high expectations for ourselves, and I believe there is still room for improvement.”
