Houston Rockets forward Jabari Smith fractures hand, expected to miss four to eight weeks

Jabari Smith has played a vital role for the Houston Rockets, who are expected to have their best season since 2017-18.

Houston Rockets forward Jabari Smith is reportedly suffering a broken left hand that will require surgery and is expected to be out for four to eight weeks. Head coach Ime Udoka announced Jabari Smith's injury prior to the game against the Boston Celtics.

Ime Udoka said: "Jabari Smith fractured the metacarpal bone in his left hand during shooting training. Jabari Smith was hit in the hand during training. Although it was a minor injury, the pain was aggravated. The problem was discovered after examination."

"Jabari Smith is awaiting a second opinion before scheduling surgery. Jabari Smith has started every game for the Houston Rockets this season and is averaging 11.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game."

Ime Udoka said that during Jabari Smith's absence, Amen Thompson will take his place. However, Amen Thompson needs to wait until the suspension ends before he can play for the team. Jabari Smith is the third pick in the 2022 draft and averaged 13 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in his three-year career.
