Africa Cup of Nations – Kabi scores twice as Morocco defeats Zambia 3-0 to advance to the Round of 16.

After the third round of group stage matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco defeated Zambia 3-0 at home. With this victory, they secured first place in Group A with a record of 2 wins, 1 draw, and 7 points, advancing to the round of 16 along with Mali.
Just half a minute into the game, Morocco posed a real threat to Zambia's goal: Brahim Diaz delivered a through ball to Ayoub Kabi, whose low shot was saved by Willard Maanda. In the 6th minute, Nir Al-Anawi passed the ball to the left side of the penalty area, where Abd Ezalozoli's shot was again saved by Maanda.
In the 9th minute, Azedin Unahí chipped a pass into the box from a corner, setting up Kabi for a diving header. In the 27th minute, Ezalozoli delivered a cross from the left side of the penalty area, and Diaz slotted home from the center. With goals from Kabi and Diaz, Morocco made it 2-0.
In the 38th minute, Ezalozoli once again delivered a cross from the left side of the penalty area, and Diaz's follow-up shot went slightly wide. In the second minute of first-half stoppage time, Diaz dribbled past two players and broke into the right side of the six-yard box, but his final shot was saved by Maanda.
Just five minutes into the second half, Morocco sealed the victory with a 3-0 lead: Unahy delivered a cross from a free kick, and the unmarked Kabi scored with a bicycle kick inside the penalty area. The linesman initially ruled Kabi offside, but after VAR intervention, the goal was ruled valid.
Neither side managed to score again. At the final whistle, Morocco won by three goals at home.
