Former Bosnian international and Serie A legend Miralem Pjanic officially announced his retirement on Tuesday, ending his 18-year professional career. For him now, family is the most important thing in his life.
“I will never play football again. My career is over,” Pjanic stated firmly in an interview with Tuttosport. “I now live in Dubai, no longer a footballer, but a father of a young child: that is my priority.”
Miralem Pjanic has been a free agent since the end of the 2024/25 season. If TMW's report is accurate, Pjanic is currently pursuing his player agent license.
The 35-year-old Pjanic came through the Metz youth academy and made his professional debut for the first team in Ligue 1 on August 18, 2007. As a versatile midfielder, he played for Metz, Lyon, Roma, Juventus, Barcelona, Besiktas, Sharjah, and CSKA Moscow at the club level, making a total of 666 appearances, scoring 77 goals and providing 132 assists. He won 4 Serie A titles, 2 Coppa Italia titles, 1 Italian Super Cup title, 1 Copa del Rey title, 1 Turkish Super Cup title, 1 UAE Cup title, 1 UAE League Cup title, 1 UAE Presidents Cup title, and 1 Russian Cup title.
Pjanic also made 115 appearances for the Bosnian national team, officially ending his 16-year international career in May 2024. He contributed 17 goals and 29 assists for Bosnia and Herzegovina and represented the team in the 2014 World Cup.
