Russian Counter Strike 2 club AMKAL announced on Saturday via its official X (Twitter) Twitter account that it is officially ceasing its operations after two-years.
According to AMKAL's official statement, all current players and coaches are now open to offers from other teams.
The club also expressed its gratitude to all fans and partners who have supported and helped the team over the past two years, and will forever remember these heartwarming acts.
In fact, since the club announced in early December that it would immediately suspend its team due to poor performance, Russian local esports news media outlets had been widely speculating that AMKAL's closure was inevitable, and now that prediction has come true.
AMKAL's last competition was the Circuito Retake Season 11 in November.
At that time, they made it to the finals but ultimately finished as runners-up, losing to Sashi.
Despite failing to win any international championships in its two years of operation, AMKAL's performance in smaller Russian tournaments was actually quite impressive.
In the process, they also nurtured many promising Russian players, injecting fresh blood into the CS2 esports scene.
Among them, molodoy and ICY are both rising stars developed by AMKAL.
The latter is now even a member of Virtus.pro (VP).
However, there are also many underperforming players in their team. Among them, the most disappointing is undoubtedly nafany, the former ace player of Cloud9 (C9) and BetBoom (BB), who joined in August.
AMKAL officially entered the Counter Strike 2 esports scene in December 2023 by acquiring the core roster of 1win.
Internationally, AMKAL defeated Falcons, led by Danish veteran Snappi, to qualify for the PGL Copenhagen Major in 2024.
However, they were eliminated early in the tournament due to a loss to The MongolZ.
After that, AMKAL almost exclusively participated in lower-tier tournaments. Their best result during this period was defeating BB in the finals of the CCT Europe Season 2 Series 1.
AMKAL's last roster before ceasing operations was:
nafany (In-Game Leader/Entry Frapper)
KaiR0N (Rifler)
TRAVIS (Rifler)
KENSI (Entry Frapper)
mo0N (AWP-er)
kAlash (Rifler - benched, currently on-loan at HOTU)
PASHANOJ (Head Coach)
syvat (Assistant Coach)
