Multiple media outlets, including The Athletic and AFP, have confirmed that Orlando City has been in intensive negotiations with Antoine Griezmann for several weeks. The club not only holds the priority signing rights for Griezmann in MLS but is also pushing hard to complete the deal before the transfer window closes on March 26.
L'Equipe further revealed that Orlando City has offered Griezmann a contract valid until December 2027, with an option to extend for another year. Griezmann will also receive approximately €9 million in net annual salary at Orlando, roughly the same as his current salary at Atletico Madrid.
If the signing fails to materialize as scheduled, the deal may be delayed until after the 2025/26 season. Besides Orlando City, three other MLS powerhouses, including Los Angeles FC and San Diego United, have also expressed strong interest in Griezmann. As for Inter Miami, they are unlikely to sign Griezmann given they already have three "designated players" on their roster.
The 34-year-old Griezmann is a versatile attacker who has played for Atlético Madrid twice in his career. To date, he has made 481 appearances for Atlético, scoring 210 goals and providing 95 assists, winning the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup with the team.
As for the national team, Griezmann has played 137 games for France to date, contributing 44 goals and 38 assists, and won the 2018 World Cup with the team.
