Memphis DePine apologizes on social media for drunk driving

Former Manchester United star Memphis Depay was stopped by police for driving under the influence in Monaco last August and was recently sentenced to four months' probation and fined £7,500. Due to his excessive alcohol content, he not only faces legal sanctions, but is also banned from driving in Monaco for two years.

Although Depai did not attend the trial, he issued a statement on social media to apologize to the public for his behavior.

"I want to apologize to everyone here. Last summer, while on vacation in Monaco, I made a mistake. After drinking in a restaurant, I decided to drive home instead of taking a taxi. This should not have happened."

"Therefore, I want to apologize to everyone and take full responsibility for my actions. 2024 has taught me a lot, and I will definitely learn from this mistake. In 2025, we will do better."

Depay is no longer playing in Europe. He joined Brazilian giants Corinthians as a free agent in September last year after Atletico Madrid did not renew his contract. Under Simeone, he played 40 games and contributed 15 goals, but failed to get a long-term contract.
