Arne Sloter explains reason for Joe Gomez substitution

In the fourth round of the FA Cup, Joe Gomez played for Liverpool, but he was substituted after only 10 minutes of the game. Coach Arne Sloter explained that Gomez felt some discomfort.
The 27-year-old Gomez was included in the starting lineup before the game and wore the captain's armband. This game was Gomez's first appearance since his return from a thigh muscle injury on December 29. However, Gomez felt unwell at the beginning of the game and was replaced.
In the post-match press conference, Sloter was asked about Gomez's condition. Sloter said: "I'm not sure at the moment. I don't know if it's the same leg that was injured this time. I haven't had time to ask him yet."
"But certainly, we all saw him look a little uncomfortable for a moment, he didn't sprint as hard as he could on a run back. He told me he wasn't 100% sure he was OK and he was worried that another sprint could lead to a more serious injury."
"I don't think it's a tear, but it's still not going to be comfortable for him. It was a big blow to me because Curtis Jones, who was on the bench and could have played, told me this morning that he's not fully fit.
"This sudden change has resulted in us having more young players on the field than originally planned, but even so, the players on the field still have enough ability and should be able to achieve a better result than this."
Liverpool lost 0-1 to Plymouth in this game and missed the FA Cup, so they can only focus on the next game. Liverpool will challenge Everton away for the 24th Premier League game on February 13.
