US reporter: PJ Tucker will sign a 10-day contract with the Knicks, the contract is worth about $120,000

According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Saturday, P.J. Tucker will sign a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks. NBA salary expert Bobby Marks predicted that the contract is worth about $120,000.

PJ Tucker, 39 years old, is 1.96 meters tall and weighs 245 pounds. He can play both as a forward and a shooting guard. He was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the second round with the 35th pick in 2006, but was cut the following year. Tucker then moved to European teams such as Holon Hapoel, Donetsk BC, Sons of Herzliya, Ares Thessaloniki, Montegranaro, Pirates of Quebradillas, and Bamberg Bozer, until he was brought back to the NBA by the Phoenix Suns in 2012.

So far, PJ Tucker has played for the Toronto Raptors, Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers in his 14-year NBA career. After being waived by the Raptors in February this year, he discussed with multiple teams and finally reached a deal with the Knicks.

Statistics show that Tucker averaged 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game in his career, with a three-point shooting percentage of 36.6%. He also participated in 104 playoff games, averaging 7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, and won the 2021 NBA championship with the Bucks. However, Tucker's last appearance was in May 2024, when he represented the Clippers in the first round of the playoffs against the Mavericks.

NBA reporter Ian Begley pointed out that the Knicks see Tucker as an important addition to the locker room, believing that his championship experience and tough temperament are beneficial to the team. The Knicks are currently ranked third in the Eastern Conference with a record of 40 wins and 23 losses, and they hope that Tucker's arrival can provide support for the team. As for the center position that is still vacant, the Knicks management believes that Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa can fill this vacancy.
