Western European powerhouse Team Liquid dominated the BLAST Slam VI finals, defeating Eastern European powerhouse Natus Vincere (NAVI) 3-1 to lift the championship trophy and take home a $400,000 prize.
This victory is of great significance to Liquid, as it is their first major tournament title since the team underwent a major overhaul last October – the retirement of their veteran captain iNsania and the acquisition of former Gaimin Gladiators players Ace and tOfu.
Looking back on their path to victory, Liquid's journey was fraught with challenges. After a 7-4 record in the group stage, they were forced to start from the playoffs. However, Liquid's performance exploded in the playoffs, first sweeping GamerLegion, then narrowly winning a five-game battle against TI defending champions Team Falcons, and finally defeating OG 3-0 in the semifinals to advance to the finals.
In the finals, Liquid's dual cores miCKe and Nisha were in top form. Although NAVI fought back tenaciously to win a point in the second game after a grueling 63-minute battle, Liquid completely controlled the situation in the remaining three games.
In particular, in the crucial third game, miCKe played the new hero "Kez" and achieved a perfect score of 15 kills and 1 death; in the decisive game, Liquid established an advantage from the laning phase and ultimately secured the victory with a huge score difference of 33-10.
This victory not only dispelled doubts about Liquid's new roster's integration period, but also heralded the strong return of this Western European champion.
