Ben Chilwell made his debut in Crystal Palace's FA Cup win over Doncaster Rovers and said it felt great and was a great start.
The player, who is on loan from Chelsea to Crystal Palace, came on as a substitute at halftime, winning valuable playing time and adding experience and strength to the team. After the game, Ben Chilwell said: "It was definitely an outstanding night for me."
"I thought it was a great feeling to make my debut and to get the win. We knew these types of games are never going to be easy. We knew it was going to be a tough game and they are a very good team."
“I think it was very important to keep a clean sheet and score two goals. Winning the cup is our aspiration this season and it’s something we’ve been looking forward to. So it was very important to get the win. Having said that, we won’t get carried away with the win and we do want to keep going in the cup.”
"That's what the manager has been saying and that's what we all want to achieve. So I think this win is a great start and we now have to focus on the Premier League. We're really excited about the next round but there's a couple of Premier League games between now and then."
After Crystal Palace's victory over Doncaster Rovers, they will face south London rivals Millwall in the fifth round. Ben Chilwell said: "I'm excited about it. It's going to be a good game for sure and hopefully we can continue our good run in the cup."
“We need to keep doing this, keep winning games and try to move up the table. When I came on, I told the right wing-back not to run around on the touchline because it was my first game recently. I felt like I was getting used to the game and when I got my strength back, I was fine.”
