Matti Cash is excited for Aston Villa's final stretch of the season. The team will face Bologna away in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final, their first competitive match in over two weeks. Cash says he is very much looking forward to the game at the Renato Dallara Stadium in northern Italy, which will kick off Villa's busy schedule over the next few weeks.
At the pre-match press conference, Matti Cash said, "Everyone has been busy with their own things and hasn't been together for a while, so it feels great to be back training. We've had several full training sessions and spent almost a whole week preparing for tomorrow's match. Now we're fully prepared, ready, and clear about the coach's tactical plans for the game."
"We will have several crucial matches in the next month or so, and the schedule will be very tight. The efforts the whole team has made this season are especially important at this time. Our performance in the next month and a half will directly determine the quality of our season finale."
Matti Cash and his teammates are no strangers to Bologna's strength, having faced them earlier this season and last season. The Serie A side lost 0-1 at Villa Park in the first leg but have since gone on an 11-game unbeaten run in European competitions. Cash knows Aston Villa will face a tough match in their next game.
He continued, "Bologna is a very strong team. They mark their opponents tightly throughout the game and their defense is solid. I know their goalkeeper, Lucas Skorupski, who is currently injured. I discussed Bologna with him during training camp because we had played against them before."
“Bologna is a very good team. Since we beat them in September, they have remained unbeaten in European competitions, with most of their matches ending in a draw or a win. Therefore, we are very clear about how strong they are.”
