Wirtz sets his sights on Liverpool continuing to participate in the Champions League next season.

Liverpool, nicknamed "The Reds," were eliminated from the Champions League quarter-finals in the second leg after conceding two goals in the second half to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, officially ending their title chase this season. German star Wirtz stated that the team's current focus is on securing Champions League qualification for next season.

With Liverpool eliminated from the FA Cup by Manchester City, Sloot's team must focus on Champions League qualification for the remainder of the season.

Liverpool currently sit 5th in the Premier League table with 52 points, still in contention for a Champions League spot. In the next round of the league, Liverpool will travel to Merseyside to face Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Liverpool midfielder Wirtz said: "Our full focus now is on the final stretch of the league season. We have to qualify for the Champions League next season, which we owe the club and the fans. We will give it our all and hopefully at least secure a top-five finish."

“We tried everything, and I felt the whole stadium was on fire. The fans deserve high praise. We gave it our all from the first minute, but we needed a goal to start the comeback. We just lacked goals, but that's football. You can't win a game if you can't score.”

Wirtz pointed out, "After being down 0-2 in the first leg, the team only needed one goal, preferably in the first half, and we really tried everything."

"It was difficult to create chances in the first half. We had some good chances in the second half, but ultimately we were just a little short of scoring. It's frustrating, but we have to accept the result and move on."
