Gen.G's mid laner Chovy won Player of the Year.

Chovy, the mid-lane star of Gen.G's League of Legends team, won the Esports Player of the Year award at The Game Awards 2025. The award was officially announced at the ceremony on December 12th, making Chovy one of the most watched esports players of the year.

The competition for this year's Player of the Year award was exceptionally fierce, with nominees spanning multiple top esports titles, including brawk and Forsaken from Valorant, Kakeru and MenaRD from Street Fighter, and Zyw0o, a star player from Counter-Strike 2. Amidst this stellar lineup, Chovy stood out thanks to his consistent performance and crucial impact throughout the year.

Looking back at the 2025 season, Chovy and Gen.G demonstrated overwhelming dominance. Although they failed to qualify for the League of Legends World Championship finals, they still achieved remarkable results in several important tournaments.

Gen.G finished as runner-up in the 2025 LCK Cup, then went on to win both the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the Esports World Cup, ultimately claiming the 2025 LCK League title. At the World Championship, the team also successfully reached the semifinals, firmly establishing itself as one of the world's top teams.

As the team's absolute core, Chovy is renowned for his near-perfect mechanics, consistent laning ability, and late-game decision-making, making him a key pillar of Gen.G's performance throughout the year. In terms of individual accolades, he not only won both the 2025 LCK Regular Season MVP and MSI Finals MVP, but was also selected to the LCK All-Tournament Team four times during the season.

It's worth mentioning that Chovy had previously won the Player of the Year award at League Awards 2025, and now, standing on the highest podium at The Game Awards, he has undoubtedly further solidified his status as one of the most representative mid laners in League of Legends today.
