The NBA Players Association (NBPA) officially announced on Sunday that the new executive committee members have been elected through the annual winter meeting. Karl-Anthony Towns and Gabe Vincent were elected as new vice presidents, while Jaylen Brown was successfully re-elected as vice president.
According to the statement, Towns and Vincent will take over the work of Malcolm Brogdon and Bismack Biyombo from now on for a term of up to three years. As one of the six vice chairmen of the executive committee, Brown, Towns and Vincent will participate in the league's strategic planning, business affairs and policy decisions, and be committed to serving the interests of players.
Brogdon and Biyombo were elected as vice chairmen of the NBFA in 2019 and 2022, respectively, and participated in many historic decisions during their tenure, including the resumption of the game during the 2020 epidemic and the conclusion of the 2023 collective bargaining agreement.
Towns also expressed his feelings about his election through a statement: "I am very happy to join the NBPA Executive Committee and I am honored to be voted in by my colleagues. I have been in the league for ten years and have never missed a union meeting; I am very proud to take on a more formal leadership role at this critical moment. Players are the core of basketball, and I hope to find new ways in the role of vice chairman to create more value for my fellow players on and off the court."
Vincent said: "I am very happy to be a member of the NBPA Executive Committee, especially working under the leadership of former player Andre (referring to NBPA Executive Director Andre Iguodala). With the implementation of new media copyright agreements, players have the opportunity to earn unprecedented income. I can't miss this opportunity. I feel it is my responsibility to participate in shaping the future of our game."
The NBPA Executive Committee consists of nine members, as follows:
President: C.J. McCollum (New Orleans Pelicans)
First Vice President: Grant Williams (Charlotte Hornets)
Secretary-Treasurer: Mason Plumlee (Phoenix Suns)
Vice Chairman: Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics)
Vice Chairman: Jaren Jackson Jr. (Memphis Grizzlies)
Vice Chairman: Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers)
Vice Chairman: Garrett Temple (Toronto Raptors)
Vice Chairman: Karl-Anthony Towns (New York Knicks)
Vice Chairman: Gabe Vincent (Los Angeles Lakers)
