◤Premier League◢ Trent Alexander-Arnold scores to rescue Liverpool with a 1-1 away draw against Aston Villa..


Liverpool forced Aston Villa into a 2-2 away draw on matchday 29 of the 2024/25 Premier League at Villa Park on Wednesday.


In the first half, Salah easily scored while being unmarked, Tielemans scored from a difficult, and Watkins scored with a header. In the second half, Jota's long-shot hit the crossbar, and Alexander-Arnold's volley was deflected into the net. In the end, Liverpool forced Aston Villa into a 2-2 away draw. After this round of game, the Reds continues to lead the rest of the chasing pack with 61 points; the Villans continue to be in 9th place on the table with 39 points.


First Half


In the 19th minute, Curtis Jones made a straight pass from the front. Dominik Szoboszlai quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the right side of the box before taking a right-footed shot against the outrushing Emiliano Martínez, but his shot was blocked by the latter.


4 minutes later, Axel Disasi was given a yellow card for maliciously elbowing McAllister while waiting for Marco Asensio to cross the ball into the box.


In the 29th minute, Liverpool launched a deadly quick counterattack. Andrés García made a mistake while passing the back back from his own back half. Diogo Jota quickly followed up, intercepted and got the ball, then dribbled into the left side of the box before deliberately passing horizontally against the outrushing Martínez. Mohamed Salah quickly followed up and upon receving the pass, volleyed the ball into the high center empty net with his left foot and easily scored from the center of the box while being totally unmarked. Liverpool broke the deadlock first to take a 0-1 lead lead! This is the Egyptian King's 24th goal in the Premier League this season!


In the 38th minute, Aston Villa got a free kick opportunity. Marcus Rashford took the free kick from outside the penalty area by crossing it into the box, causing chaos. Szoboszlai intially headed and cleared the ball off not far away. After quickly picking up the loose ball, Youri Tielemans shot the ball into the bottom left corner of the net with his left foot at a difficult angle from the left side of the penalty box. Aston Villa equalized Liverpool at 1-1!


2 minutes later, Andy Robertson made a long pass from the left wing. After successfully beating the offside trap, Jota quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the left side of the box before volleying the ball with his right foot against the outrushing Martínez following a wonderful solo run, but his shot went extremely wide of the right side of the post. Liverpool missed the golden opportunity to take the lead again!


In the 3rd minute of the first half stoppage time, Lucas Digne crossed into the box from the edge of the byline on the left wing. Ollie Watkins rose high and scored with a header from the center of the box. Aston Villa overtook Liverpool by leading 2! This is the England international center forward's 13th goal in all competitions this season!


At the end of the first half, Aston Villa temporarily led Liverpool by 2-1 as they entered the halftime break.


Second Half


Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 60th minute, Ryan Gravenberch passes horizontally from the right wing. Diogo Jota quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before taking a long shot with his right foot at the edge of the penalty area. Unfortunately, his shot hit the crossbar and bounced off. Liverpool missed the golden opportunity to equalize Aston Villa!


One minute later, Salah passed back from the right side of the box. Trent Alexander-Arnold quickly followed up, stopped the ball, adjusted his angle, then volleyed with his right foot from the right side of the box. The ball was initially blocked by Tyrone Mings before deflecting into the bottom left corner of the net, keeping Martínez out of reach. Liverpool equalized Aston Villa at 2-2! This goal also means that Salah's 42 Goal Contributions in the Premier League has equalled Erling Håland's record, and he is only 5 goals behind Alan Shearer and Andy Cole, who have retired for many years ago, with 47 Goal Contributions!


In the 69th minute, Szoboszlai deliberately passed the ball horizontally from the right side of the box against the outrushing Martínez. Darwin Núñez quickly followed up and  upon receving the pass, volleyed the ball with his left foot from a very close distance in the box, but his shot flew high out of the pitch. Liverpool missed the golden opportunity to overtake Aston Villa by leading again!


When the final whistle is blown, Liverpool forced Aston Villa into a 2-2 away draw.
