AC Milan suffered a shock 2-1 defeat against Bologna who came back and beat them in the 2024/25 Serie A match at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on Thursday.

In the first half, Leão volleyed into the net. In the second half, Castro pushed the ball into the net from close range. At the critical moment, Ndoye pushed the ball into the net from close range. In the end, Bologna came from behind and defeated AC Milan by 2-1. After this matchday, I Veltri are temporarily 6th on the table with 44 points; I Rossoneri are temporarily 8th with 41 points.

First Half

Just 20 seconds after the start, Yunus Musah passes horizontally from the left wing. Santiago Giménez quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, took a left-footed long shot from edge of the penalty area, but his shot flew high out of the pitch.

In the 25th minute, Lewis Ferguson made a through pass from the midfield center circle. After successfully beating the offside trap, Dan Ndoye quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the right side of the box before pushing the ball with his right foot, but his shot went just slightly wide of the right side of the post. However, since the video playback showed that Ndoye was maliciously pushed down by Strahinja Pavlović when he shot, the referee insisted that there was no doubt about this foul!

In the 38th minute, Ndoye passes horizontally from the front. Benjamín Domínguez quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before shooting with his right foot at a difficult angle from the edge of the byline on the left side of the box, but his shot was saved by Mike Maignan.

5 minutes later, Giménez passed the ball with a header. After successfully beating the offside trap, Rafael Leão quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled and cuts into the left side of the box past the outrushing Łukasz Skorupski before volleying the ball into the empty net with his left foot. AC Milan broke the deadlock first took a 0-1 lead 0-1! This is Leão's 10th goal in all competitions this season!

At the end of the first half, Bologna temporarily trailed AC Milan 0-1 and entered the half time break.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 48th minute, Bologna got a deadly free kick opportunity. Ferguson took the free kick from outside the penalty area by crossing it into the box. Lorenzo De Silvestri rose high in the box and attempted with a header. The ball accidentally hit the arm of teammate Giovanni Fabbian and was pushed into the bottom right corner of the net by Santiago Castro from a very close distance in the box. AC Milan players immediately protested, and the VAR assistant referee also intervened. After VAR assistant referee checked the playback, Castro's goal was still judged to be valid! Bologna equalized AC Milan at 1-1!

In the 64th minute, Malick Fofana made a through pass from his own back half. After successfully beating the  and after offside trap, Yunus Musah quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled and cuts into the center of the box before shooting with his left foot, but his shot was saved by Skorupski.

In the 81st minute, Bologna got a corner kick opportunity, Juan Miranda took the corner kick by crossing it into the box. Nicolò Casale rose high in the box and attempted with a header. However, his effort unfortunately hit the right side of the post and bounced off. Bologna missed the golden opportunity to score another goal!

2 minutes later, Nicolò Cambiaghi crossed into the box from edge of the byline on the left wing. Upon receiving the pass, Dan Ndoye slid the ball lower center of the net with his right foot from a very close distance in the box. Bologna overtook AC Milan by 2-1!

When the final whistle is blown, AC Milan crumbled to a shock 2-1 comeback defeat against Bologna.
