Asensio scored twice to help Aston Villa advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals

Marco Asensio scored twice in the game, helping Aston Villa beat Cardiff City 2-0 and advance to the FA Cup quarterfinals.

This is the first time Aston Villa has reached the FA Cup quarterfinals since 2015. In the post-match interview, Asensio said: "We are very happy. This is not an easy game. We know that the opponent is not easy to deal with."

"I'm happy for the goal, happy for the win, we're through to the next round and that's what matters. We have to keep working hard, we're on the right path."

Asensio's goal in the game brought his total to 4 goals in 6 games since joining the team, all of which came from the last two games. However, 3 of these 4 goals were assisted by loan teammate Marcus Rashford.

When talking about Rashford, Asensio said: "Marcus is a top player. We haven't been together for a long time, but I already know how he passes the ball and how he likes to play. I am very happy to play alongside him and all my teammates. We have enough quality to strive for greater achievements, which is also our goal."

Aston Villa is the only team confirmed to advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals, so the next FA Cup match has not yet been confirmed. Aston Villa will focus on the first leg of the next Champions League round of 16, away to Club Brugge.
