◤UEFA Champions League◢ Alphonso Davies' crucial time goal sends Bayern Munich through with a late 3-2 aggregate win over Celtic..

Bayern Munich defeated Celtic with a late 3-2 aggregate win in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League Round of 16s play-off at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday and advanced.

In the first half, Kühn's volley was blocked and Kane's volley hit the crossbar. In the second half, Goretzka's volley was blocked, Kühn scored by volleying the ball into the net following a wonderful solo run, and Davies scored from close range. In the end, Bayern Munich defeated Celtic 3-2 and qualified for the Round of 16s.

First Half

In the 4th minute, Michael Olise crossed from the byline at the right side of the box. Serge Gnabry quickly followed up and upon receving the pass, attempted with a header from a very close distance in the box, however his effort was blocked by Alistair Johnston.

12 minutes later, Jota crossed from the side of the box, Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn quickly followed up and stopped the ball, before volleying with his left foot  from the right side of the box against the outrushing Manuel Neuer, but his shot blocked by Raphaël Guerreiro in front of the goal line, and Celtic missed the golden opportunity to break the deadlock first!

In the 22nd minute, Jamal Musiala made a straight pass from the right wing, Harry Kane quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the right side of the box and before volleying with his right foot, but his shot was saved by Kasper Schmeichel.

In the 45th minute, Josip Stanišić passes horizontally from the right wing, Kane quickly followed up and upon receving the pass, volleyed with his right foot  from the center of the box, but his shot unfortunately hit the crossbar and bounced off. This time it was Bayern's turn to miss the golden opportunity to break the deadlock first!

At the end of the first half, Bayern Munich and Celtic temporarily drew 0-0 and entered the half time break.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 47th minute, Kingsley Coman made a diagonal low through pass from the left wing. After successfully beating the offside trap, Leon Goretzka quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the left side of the box before taking a left-footed volley against the outrushing Schmeichel, but his shot was blocked by the latter.

In the 63rd minute, Celtic made a deadly quick counterattack. Stanišić made a mistake in passing the ball at his own back half. After successfully beating the offside trap, Daizen Maeda quickly followed up, intercepted the ball and then passes it horizontally. Kühn quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the right side of the box before volleying the ball against the outrushing Neuer's with his left foot into the empty bottom left corner of the net following a wonderful solo run. Celtic broke the deadlock first to take a 0-1 lead! This is the former Bayern player's 18th goal in all competitions this season!

11 minutes later, Joshua Kimmich made an overhead pass into the box from the front. Goretzka quickly followed up and attempted with a header from a very close distance in the box, however his effort went just slightly wide of the left side of the post.

In the 76th minute, Musiala passed the ball back from the edge of the penalty area, Leroy Sané quickly followed up, got the ball, then dribbled into the center of the box and before taking a left-footed shot, but his shot went just slightly wide of the upper left corner of the post.

3 minutes later, Bayern got a free kick opportunity, Olise took the free kick and shot directly with his left foot from outside the penalty area, his shot was initially blocked off by not far away the wall. After picking up the loose ball, Joshua Kimmich took a long shot with his right foot at the edge of the penalty area, but his shot was blocked by the wall first and then saved by Schmeichel.

In the 4th minute of injury time, Olise crossed into the box from the right wing. Goretzka rose high and attempted with a header from a very close distance in the box, however his effort was initially saved and went not far away by Schmeichel. Alphonso Davies quickly followed up and after picking up the loose ball,  pushed the ball into the  bottom left corner of the net with his left foot from a very close distance in the box. Bayern Munich equalized Celtic at 1-1! It is a pity that Celtic, who performed well in both legs, was eliminated so cruelly!

When the final whistle is blown, Bayern Munich defeated Celtic with a late 3-2 aggregate win and advanced to the Round of 16s.
