Emiliano Martinez praised his team's performance

Emiliano Martinez praised Aston Villa's performance as they beat Cardiff City 2-0 to advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals.  

Aston Villa struggled in the early stages of the game but Marco Asensio's second-half brace proved to be a real asset, and Emiliano Martinez praised his side's professionalism and perseverance as they broke through their opponents' low block to secure their place in the quarter-finals.  

"It was a very dangerous game, a very tricky one," said Emiliano Martinez. "They defended low, which we have had difficulty defending recently, and they launched several counterattacks. In fact, they had a clear chance to score five minutes before we scored."  

"We've been in this situation before, we defended low against Forest and we defended low against Ipswich, but it's hard for us to win in the Premier League. I thought we played well and we should have won by four or five goals."  

Emiliano Martinez added: "I've won three titles with Arsenal, I know that feeling, I know that trip to Wembley. For me, the last time I won the title with Arsenal was one of the best days since I came to England."  

"I want to tell the youngsters how important it is to win this trophy and I also hope that the fans will go to Wembley to watch the game."
