Ruben Amorim says it's tough right now but he's working hard for future success

Reuben Amorim says Manchester United's decision to acquire INEOS shows a "clear path" to success despite the club's massive job cuts this year.

Earlier this week, Manchester United announced that it would cut 150 to 200 jobs this year, adding to the 250 staff it sacked last summer as part of a cost-cutting effort to improve the club's financial position since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS Group took over.

Meanwhile, United continue to struggle on the pitch, currently sitting 14th in the Premier League. Their Europa League campaign will resume next month, while their FA Cup defence continues with a fifth-round clash against Fulham on Sunday.

Asked about the positives at United at the moment, Amorim said: "I can see a clear path, and so can the board. They are making some difficult changes, and these decisions may not be popular, but they are doing it because they have a vision. That is clear.

“But in the future we have to show results – because you can make a lot of changes, but if there are no results, people won’t have confidence and they won’t be happy.”

"The good thing is we have a clear path. It's tough right now, but we're setting ourselves up for success in the future."

The Portuguese manager has now lost nine of his 23 games in charge of Manchester United.

Asked if he has become a better coach since arriving at United, Amorim admitted: "Better? It's hard to say. I'm not winning too many games now, so sometimes I don't feel like I'm a better coach!"

“I’ve lived here for three months and experienced things that have made me a more well-rounded person.”

"Sometimes, only by experiencing failure and being at the bottom can we grow. I have deeply experienced this in these three months."

"I'm not going to break down after losing three games in a row, that's one thing I've learned here. I can adjust my mentality and stay energetic. I'm constantly learning about myself, but at the end of the day, I still prefer winning."

"Even though the situation today is difficult, we are still working hard. All this will help us in the future."
