Amorim says the team's goal is to win the Premier League, but it may not be him who does it

Manchester United were knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Fulham at Old Trafford, meaning their only hope of qualifying for Europe is the Europa League. Club legend Wayne Rooney, on commentary, criticised Reuben Amorim for being "naive" for talking about the Premier League title when the team was 14th in the table.
However, Amorim insisted in an interview with the BBC after the game that he was not naive and that Manchester United's goal was always to win the Premier League title.
"It's naive to think we can win the title this season or be the strongest contender next season," Amorim responded to Rooney's doubts. "I know everyone knows football now. I also worked as a commentator after retiring. I know how easy it is to be a commentator."
"Our goal is to win the Premier League. Maybe not by me, but the vision of the club and the goal of the board is to be at the top of the Premier League again like the great Manchester United legends of the past."
"We know it's a difficult situation but that's why I can coach Manchester United at the age of 40. I'm not naive.
