Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson out for at least two weeks with right ankle sprain

The New York Knicks announced Friday that Jalen Brunson is expected to miss at least two weeks with a sprained right ankle.

The Knicks lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 109-113 yesterday. What is more worrying is that their star point guard Brunson was accidentally injured in the overtime stage. At that time, Brunson was fouled by Austin Reeves when he broke through for a layup, resulting in a severe sprain of his right ankle. After Brunson insisted on completing two free throws, he immediately left the court and returned to the locker room.

Brunson has performed well this season, averaging 26.3 points, 3 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game, shooting 49% from the field and 38.4% from three-point range. The Knicks are currently ranked third in the Eastern Conference with a record of 40 wins and 23 losses. Brunson's absence is undoubtedly a major blow to the team. He is not only the team's top scorer, but also a very high-level ball handler.

Fortunately, an X-ray of Brunson's ankle confirmed that there was no structural damage. ESPN reporter Shams Charanie added that the Knicks expect Brunson to return before the playoffs.
