The League of Legends Korea (LCK) will kick off the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) qualifiers at LoL Park in Seoul on June 7. Six teams will compete fiercely for two spots to represent the LCK at the MSI in Vancouver, Canada later this month.
The opening match was between Dplus KIA and KT Rolster. The two teams just played a BO3 tiebreaker on June 4 to determine the fifth and sixth place in the regular season. Both teams finished with 10 wins and 8 losses, +2 points in the first and second rounds of the regular season, and had to play a tiebreaker to decide the winner. The winner will advance to the "Legend Group" and continue to strive for a higher ranking, while the loser will enter the "Rise Group".
On June 7, the two teams will face off again in a BO5 King of the Hill match. The winner will challenge the fourth place in the regular season, Nongshim RedForce, on June 8 to advance to a higher round.
The top two teams in the regular season, Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports, will play a BO5 match at the Busan Sajik Indoor Stadium on June 13. The winner will directly qualify for the No. 1 seed in the LCK. The loser will face the winner of the previous match on June 14 to compete for the second MSI ticket. The final match will be held on June 15, and all matches will be BO5.
With the implementation of the mid-season 25.9 version, the competition pattern has changed significantly: Vanguard resources have been merged into one unit, which has an impact on its win rate of up to 80%, becoming an important factor in determining the outcome of the battle. In addition, the Voidling generation time has been delayed to avoid conflicts with dragon line resources, giving junglers more room for scheduling. The qualifiers will use version 25.11, and teams need to quickly adapt to the changes in rhythm brought about by the new version.
DRX bottom laner Tian "Zhen" You-Cheng performed a quad kill in the match against OK Savings Bank BRION on May 29, winning both Player of the Match and Gold King honors of the week, becoming the first foreign player in LCK history to achieve this achievement.
As the competition for MSI seats officially begins, the LCK battle heats up again, and major teams will show their strongest strength in the version updates and high-intensity confrontations.
