Holstein Kiel issued a statement on Wednesday announcing the extension of Lasse Rosenboom's contract, which was originally scheduled to last until 2026. As usual, the club did not disclose the length of the extension and the specific details.
The 23-year-old Lasse Rosenboom came from Werder Bremen's youth training and joined Holstein Kiel as a free agent in July 2023. On August 5 of the same year, he came on as a substitute in the second round of the Bundesliga against Fürth, thus completing his debut for the Holstein Kiel first team.
Rosenboom has played 30 times for Holstein Kiel so far, including 17 Bundesliga games and 2 German Cup games this season. He mainly plays as a right back for Holstein Kiel and has scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist so far.
Regarding the decision to renew Rosenboom's contract, Holstein Kiel Sports General Manager Carsten Wellmann explained: "Over the past year and a half, Lasse's growth trajectory has been in line with our expectations. Since joining, he has gradually gained more playing opportunities with his dedication and thirst for knowledge, and has grown into a key player in this season's Bundesliga lineup."
"We are convinced that he still has enormous room for improvement. We are therefore very happy that he will continue to stay in Holstein Kiel."
Rosenboom said: "In Holstein Kiel, I got the opportunity to become a professional player in the Bundesliga. I feel very comfortable in the team, the club and the city. Therefore, I decided to continue to move forward with the team without hesitation."
Holstein Kiel is currently ranked second from the bottom in the Bundesliga with 4 wins, 5 draws and 16 losses, and its relegation situation is precarious. In this regard, Rosenboom promised the fans: "I am very grateful for your trust in me and will continue to do my best to help the team achieve our common goal - successful relegation."
