◤Carabao Cup◢ Alexander Isak scores as Newcastle United beats Arsenal with a 0-2 away win..

Newcastle United beat Arsenal with a 0-2 away win in the first leg of the 2024/25 Carabao Cup semi-finals at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

In the first half, Martinelli hit the post after a scintillating solo run, and Isak scored with a close-range shot. In the second half, Gordon's a close-range shot went into the empty goal. In the end, Newcastle United beat Arsenal with a 0-2 away win.

First Half

In the 10th minute, after picking up the loose ball, William Saliba took a long shot with his left foot from outside the penalty area, his shot was initially blocked off by Dan Burn not far away. Upon picking up the loose ball, Kai Havertz made a left-footed shot from a very close distance in the box, but his shot was saved by Martin Dúbravka.

Three minutes later, Arsenal got a corner kick opportunity. Declan Rice took the corner by crossing it into the box. Jurriën Timber rose high and attempted with a header from a very close distance in the box, however his effort went just slightly higher than the crossbar.

In the 29th minute, Leandro Trossard made a through pass from the midfield center circle. After successfully countering the offside trap, Gabriel Martinelli quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the right side of the box before volleying with his right foot. Unfortunately, his shot hit the right post and bounced off. Arsenal missed the golden opportunity to break the deadlock first!

8 minutes later, Jacob Murphy passes horizontally from the right side of the box. Alexander Isak quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed the ball into the upper left corner of the net with his left foot from a very close distance in the box. Newcastle United broke the deadlock first to take a 0-1 lead! This is Isak's 14th goal of the season!

In the 45th minute, Martin Ødegaard crossed into the box from the right wing. Rice headed the ball across, Gabriel quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, half-volleyed with his left foot from a very close distance in the box, but his shot was saved by Dúbravka.

At the end of the first half, Arsenal temporarily trailed Newcastle United by 0-1 as they entered the halftime break.

Second Half

Both teams swtiched sides as the match continued.  In the 51st minute, Murphy passes horizontally from the right wing. Isak quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps , got the ball before volleying with his right foot at the right side of the box, but his shot was initially saved by David Raya not far away. After quickly following up and picking up the loose ball, Anthony Gordon put the ball into the bottom left corner of the empty goal at a very close distance in the box with a left-footed shot. Newcastle United expanded its lead to 0-2!

7 minutes later, Trossard crossed into the box from the right wing. Havertz quickly followed up,rose high and attempted with a header from a very close distance in the box, however his effort went just slightly wide of the right side of the post.

In the 64th minute, Arsenal got a corner kick opportunity. Rice took the corner by crossing it into the box. William Saliba rose high and attempted with a header, however his effort went just slightly higher than the crossbar..

When the final whistle is blown, Newcastle United defeated Arsenal with a 0-2 away win.
