Tottenham Hotspur manager Angel Postecoglou was impressed by Archie Gray's performance in his first start in midfield against Fulham. It was Gray's 38th appearance in all competitions in his first season at Tottenham.
The England Under-21 international has played in defence for the majority of the season, starting 11 games at centre-back between December 12 and January 15 before moving into midfield at Craven Cottage.
Although the home side ended up taking the points with goals in the 77th and 88th minutes, Archie Gray took his chances against the likes of Andreas Pereira, Sander Berg and Emile Smith Rowe. Archie Gray then showed his talent for football again, returning to centre-back when the formation changed in the second half.
When Ange Postecoglou was asked about Archie Gray's performance in the midfield, he said: "I thought Archie Gray played well. We know that Archie Gray is a very adaptable player and it is very important for him to get some game time because he has not played in the last few games."
“When we came back from the international break we had another rotation from Thursday to Sunday. So it was a good opportunity for Archie Gray to get some experience in midfield and I thought he performed well.”
