Although United States international Yunus Musa and Mexico forward Santiago Jimenez may be opponents in Sunday's CONCACAF Nations League final, they remain close teammates at AC Milan.
Since Jimenez joined the Rossoneri in the winter window, he has established a good relationship with Musa. The Mexican striker quickly integrated into the team, not only performing well on the court, but also being loved by his teammates.
"Santiago is a great teammate, he's a good guy. We have a good dressing room atmosphere," Musa said in an interview. "He's Mexican, and Pulisic and I are Americans, so there's an interesting competitive relationship between us in the dressing room."
"But he's a very good guy and I'm sure it will be a great matchup against Mexico."
The United States will face Panama in the Nations League semi-finals on Thursday, while Mexico will face Canada. Musa is looking forward to facing Jimenez in the final: "I hope to meet him in the final. It will be a special experience. It will be great to play against my club teammate in the national team, win the championship, and then go back to Milan to talk about this game."
Moussa came from Arsenal's youth training camp and joined AC Milan in 2023. He has played 75 times for the team so far. Jimenez quickly adapted to the rhythm of Serie A after joining in the winter window this year. In just 10 games, he contributed 3 goals and 2 assists, becoming an important part of Milan's forward line.
The finals of this year's Nations League will be held at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. In the semifinals, the United States will face Panama, while Mexico and Canada will compete for a place in the final in the other game. The United States will look to continue its dominance in the tournament, while the other teams are looking to win their first championship.
If everything goes well, Moussa and Jimenez will face off in the final. At that time, the two Milan teammates will compete for the championship glory for their respective countries.
